Las nuevas herramientas sociales de la web2.0 (Facebook, MSN, Fotolog, YouTube, entre otras) nos enfrentan como sociedad, padres y educadores, a nuevos desafíos preventivos. No sólo es importante enseñarle a un menor de edad a cruzar de forma segura la calle o evitar hablar con un extraño.
Hoy, es muy importante desarrollar competencias digitales a la altura de los tiempos, como el manejo de claves seguras en MSN o Facebook, límites entre lo público y lo privado, y la comprensión de los límites de la verdad en Internet, entre otras.
Los niños están en una etapa de desarrollo que implica un funcionamiento psicológico más básico y concreto que el de un adulto, por lo que la responsabilidad de los mediadores (padres y educadores) en la promoción de competencias de auto-cuidado y auto-regulación, es clave.
Chile tiene el record de nuevas cuentas en Facebook, con un millón en un mes. ¿Cuántas son de niños menores de 13 años sin autorización o guía de un adulto? No debemos esperar que el Sr. Facebook los descubra y expulse de la plataforma -situación poco probable-, sino preguntarnos qué depende de nosotros como usuarios para evitar estas situaciones de riesgo. Frente a esto es bueno interrogarse: ¿tengo algún contacto que sea menor de edad? ¿Sé denunciar en el sistema situaciones de riesgo? ¿Me involucro para evitar que los niños y niñas que conozco no corran riesgos innecesarios?
Podemos hacer algo hoy, no sólo culpar a YouTube o Facebook como plataformas, sino centrarnos en el uso responsable, que es un aprendizaje social y un logro conquistable.

Felicidades por el artículo / compentario. Efectivamente quienes actualmente están definiendo las políticas de prevensión asociadas a los delitos cibernéticos tales como el grooming, tipos de bullying, entre otros varios que ya han sido descritos, aún no dejan de pensar en el impacto legal, dejando de lado el valor de la educación, de la formación en el hogar, y de la coherencia que éstas deben tener con todo aquello que se genera en la familia y en el colegio.
Si está interesado, en un tiempo más le puedo mandar un estudio que estamos haciendo sobre grooming en mi Consultora, en el que la coherencia con la postura que manifiestas no es menor...

como docente en el area computacional , le explico los riescos de tener mucha confianza
con cualquiera y lo ha entendido bien y mis sobrinos de 13 años tambien , prefieren estar jugando a la pelota que hablarar y lesear con facebook

Las brechas digitales son las que probablemente estan jugando en contra, de una efectiva prevención por parte de los padres, es muy probable que los hijos esten mucho más adelantados en esta materia y puedan "engañar" a los padres con el uso de estas herramientas comunicacionales, yo por ejemplo tengo un hermano chico de 12 años y soy yo quien indago respecto a sus conductas en la web, mi padre no conose la real amenaza de este tipo de situación o la subestima, es por eso que a la par de una educaion familiar, tambien las entidades educativas y el estado deben tener un protagonismo y propiciar el dialogo de estas tematicas en la familia y el colegio.

Primero que nada mas que felicitaciones, no podemos culpar a una herremienta o plataforma de ser lo que es sin decir primero para que la ocupamos, somos como adultos el primer "filtro" entre la pantalla y el asiento de un niño tenemos el deber de enseñar y manejar la informacion, no podemos esperar que un niño descubra solo por horas en un computador que es bueno, malo, feo, si no dedicamos un rato para saber que inquetudes tiene, hoy en dia para que el niño no moleste le ponemos Internet, cable, juegos de lucha, que si realmente distraen no hay mas aporte que quemar el dia y o noche. Si los adultos de hoy niños de ayer recordemos mas de 10 formas de jugar que no implicaban un televisor ni juego electronico sabremos con efectividad que es lo que nos falta a todos los adultos para con los niños de hoy.

Muy de acuerdo con lo planteado en el artículo / carta escrita. Como bien nos dijera alguna vez el gran prof. Llanos, "no venga con problemas: traiga soluciones". Culpar a la red, a las plataformas sociales y a las herramientas de comunicación es patear la pelota para el lado, y no darse cuenta que eso no va a solucionar nada. Tampoco lo hará la prohibición: todos sabemos que el ser humano es rey en hacer precisamente aquello que le prohiben. Y en los niños es mucho más, particularmente por ese juego de poder entre niños y adultos, que define la relación y la "rayada de cancha" entre ambas generaciones.
Es sorprendente como el tiempo avanza y las cosas y perspectivas cambian drásticamente (como señalé en el último artículo de mi blog). Y seguirán avanzando así, aún cuando nuestros padres y antecesores no avancen a ese ritmo, seguirá avanzando. Por ende, el rol de las generaciones intermedias, de los educadores y de quienes tienen más conocimiento y experiencia en este progresivo desarrollo de la red es fundamental. No se saca nada con bloquear todos los sitios (tipo "fortiguard"), pues siempre habrá alguien que sepa como evitar ese bloqueo y seguir accediendo, sin enseñanza alguna (o medio de protección de si mismo) a los mismos medios tecnológicos que pueden llegar a perjudicarle. La enseñanza, el diálogo y la construcción conjunta de las cogniciones respecto a la red son la clave para el correcto uso de esta.
Y es cosa de un pensamiento muy sencillo: si no es en la casa, será en el colegio, en la casa del amigo cuyos padres "no están ni ahí" con revisar el PC, o en la tonelada de cybercafés existentes que cualquier menor puede tener acceso a cualquier sitio de la web, los mismos que en su casa "le prohiben". Mejor que entienda los riesgos y peligros que implican esos sitios (y los niños, afortunadamente, son altamente receptivos de dichas enseñanzas por parte de sus figuras de autoridad y significativas) y los evite por voluntad personal, no por prohibición impuesta. Tampoco es una cosa de laisez faire, y que cada cual haga lo que se le cante; mas las conductas adquiridas y llevadas por la propia voluntad crean nuevos hábitos (o modifican los existentes), versus las impuestas que siempre llevarán ese toque de "llevar la contra" o "tirar la cuerda a ver cuanto resiste".
Un detalle final, para cerrar. La culpa no es de las plataformas sociales ni de la tecnología. La culpa es de quien no sabe adaptarse a esos cambios. Cuando el Sr. Nobel inventó la dinamita, nunca pensó en que podría ser la raíz de un sin fin de explosivos nocivos para la humanidad. Y quienes pudieron preverlo, no supieron adecuarse a ello para evitar que fuese riesgoso.

Sólo mencionar que conozco la situación de bastante cerca. Los riesgos online son muchos, y los usuarios poco responsables también.
Definitivamente, creo que existe una dificultad a nivel social, pues la familia de hoy no es la misma que antaño. Ambos padres trabajan, y los niños quedan a la deriva, al cuidado de personas desconocidas que no se preocupan de las actividades que esté realizando el niño/a. Es más, me atrevería a mencionar que para estos cuidadores es mas fácil y conveniente que ellos ocupen su tiempo frente a una pantalla (un televisor o un computador) que dedicarse a ellos y a realizar actividades de otro tipo.
No quiero que suene a juicio, pero creo que hace falta más presencia de un adulto responsable en la vida de nuestros niños. Una compañía, guía, dedicación y preocupación basadas en el amor que sentimos por ellos. Es cierto que implica tiempo y esfuerzo, pero el premio es lo suficientemente bueno como para hacerlo.
A modo de comentario final, es importante mencionar que los riesgos nunca desaparecen, en ningún ámbito de la vida. Lo único que podemos hacer es disminuirlos y entregar una formación que permita distinguir entre aquellos que nos hace bien, y aquello que definitivamente no.

Felicitaciones una vez más, muy buenas interrogantes, los adultos estamos tan sumidos en nuestros problemas del diario vivir,que tenerles internet a nuestros hijos nos sirve para estar "tranquilos" y no medimos las consecuencias de ello. Sí es verdad, a veces los adultos no estamos atentos en lo que utilizan nuestros hijos el computador. E encontrado varios niños pequeños de la edad de mi hija, 8 años y sus padres no saben el riesgo que correr al dejarlos al libre albedrio.
Ahora se habren páginas solas y te ofrecen amigos que ni siquiera conoces, pero el que tiene más contacto es el mejor.
En mi hija aplico herramientas de prevención. Para que tapar el sol con un dedo esto de la tegnología hace que los niños sientan curiosidad y si´tú no lo tomas en cuenta simplemente buscan otro medio por el cual obtenerlo; pero yo lo sé y los demás padres, sólo les puedo hacer llegar mensajes de prevención a los amigos de mi hija y sí los veos trato de sensibilizarlos pero muchos dicen que soy un poco exagerada y me pregunto porque otro medio les puedo hacer entende que tengan mayor vigilancia con sus hijos en el computador?.
